Angelicum's Most Famous Alumnus
On November 26, 1946, Karol Józef Wojtyła, the future Pope John Paul II, registers at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas to study theology where he earned a licentiate [July 3, 1947] and later a doctorate in Sacred Theology [June 14-19, 1948]. This doctorate, the first of two, was based on the Latin dissertation Doctrina de fide apud S. Ioannem a Cruce (The Doctrine of Faith According to Saint John of the Cross).
