New director of the Institute of St. Thomas
Rev. Walter Senner OP, professor of history of medieval philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy, has been appointed as the new director of the Institute of St. Thomas.
The Institute of St. Thomas began at the express wish of the General Chapters of the Dominican Friars; it is associated with the Fédération Internationale des Instituts d'Etudes Médiévales (FIDEM). The Institute is meant to foster a specialized critical hermeneutics of Thomistics texts, for a deeper understanding of the doctrine they contain, and for the study of the historical development of Thomism. In the past few years, the Institute aimed at explicitly comparing Thomistic and contemporary thought.
In organizing all its activities, which are usually published, the Institute collaborates with the faculty members of the University and with Thomistic scholars:
II. Itinerant lessons
III. Tutorial Courses
IV. Disputed Questions
V. Public Homilies
VI. Scientific Publications
VII. Anthropological Research
VIII. Cooperation with Scientific and/or Academic Institutions
Prof. Senner replaces Margherita Maria Rossi who headed the Institute for the past 6 years.
