The administration, staff, professors and students of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas welcome pilgrims from all over the world as the city of Rome honors the University's most prominent alumnus.
Blessed John Paul the Great stated the following on his first visit to the Angelicum as pope on November 17, 1979:
"My visit to the Angelicum… gave me an opportunity to relive the numerous memories of the two years during which I was a student at [this] University. It is a joy to me to realize that the Angelicum has continued in the study, the teaching, and the diffusion of the truth of revealed doctrine, through the disciplines of theology and philosophy and their related sciences… I also noted with pleasure the signs of the vitality which abound in the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas: it gives evidence of quite fresh vigor through which it is able, by new scientific approaches, to respond to the emerging cultural demands of our time."
On behalf of the University I especially welcome all our alumni who are in Urbe for this magnificent celebration. May Blessed Karol Wojtyla bless you and keep you during your sojourn in the Eternal City.
