Rome prepares for 2 million pilgrims for beatification of Angelicum alumnus

The Eternal City is preparing for an estimated two million pilgrims for the beatification of Angelicum alumnus Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) this coming May 1, 2011, when the city will be thronged with Easter week tourists. There are no tickets and no reservations for the event as many of the faithful want to be there to see the Polish-born pontiff beatified, the last formal step before canonization.

Ex-alunno nominato ausiliare dell’Ordinariato Militare per il Brasile

Il Santo Padre ha nominato Vescovo Ausiliare dell’Ordinariato Militare per il Brasile il Rev.do. Sac. José Francisco Falcão de Barros, del clero della diocesi di Palmeira dos Índios, finora Parroco di San Vincenzo de’ Paoli a Palmeira dos Índios e Cappellano della Polizia Militare dello Stato di Alagoas, assegnandogli la sede titolare vescovile di Auguro.

Il Rev.do Sac. José Francisco Falcão de Barros è nato il 14 marzo 1965 a Paulo Jacinto. Ha frequentato la scuola media presso il Collegio diocesano a Garanhuns e il Corso di Filosofia e di Teologia presso la Pontificia Università Cattolica di Rio de Janeiro. Ha conseguito la specializzazione in Agronomia presso l’ Università Federale di Alogoas; la Licenza e il Dottorato in Diritto Canonico presso la Pontificia Università San Tommaso di Aquino in Roma.
È stato ordinato sacerdote il 18 novembre 1991 a Palmeira dos Índios.
Dal 1993 ad oggi ricopre l’ufficio di Parroco della parrocchia di San Vincenzo de’ Paoli. Ha ricoperto gli incarichi di: Professore di Teologia al Seminario Nossa Senhora da Assunção, a Maceió; Cancelliere della Curia diocesana di Palmeira dos Índios; Vicario Giudiziale della diocesi.
Dal 2006 è Cappellano della Polizia Militare dello Stato di Alagoas, a Palmeira dos Índios.
È autore di diverse pubblicazioni.

St. Thomas Aquinas and the Church: Theo-Centric Ecclesiology

The Thomistic Institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception is sponsoring a symposium on the ecclesiology of St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas and the Church: Theo-Centric Ecclesiology.

Ex-Alunno Nominato Vescovo di Ciudad Rodrigo (Spagna)

Il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha nominato Vescovo di Ciudad Rodrigo S.E. Mons. Cecilio Raúl Berzosa Martínez, finora Vescovo titolare di Arcavica ed Ausiliare di Oviedo.

S.E. Mons. Cecilio Raúl Berzosa Martínez è nato in Aranda de Duero, arcidiocesi di Burgos, il 22 novembre 1957. Ha seguito gli studi ecclesiastici nel Seminario di Burgos e nella Facoltà Teologica del Nord della Spagna, dove nel 1984 ha ottenuto la Laurea in Teologia Dogmatica.
Ordinato sacerdote l’8 novembre 1982, dal 1984 al 1986 frequentato a Roma la Pontificia Accademia Ecclesiastica ed il corso di Licenza in Diritto Canonico presso la Pontificia Università S. Tommaso d’Aquino. Durante lo stesso periodo ha studiato Antropologia Teologica presso il "Teresianum" e ha frequentato un corso di giornalismo nell’Istituto Professionale "Lazio".
Ha svolto il ministero come vicario parrocchiale (1982-1983), parroco (1983-1984), professore di Teologia Dogmatica e Spiritualità nella Facoltà di Teologia del Nord della Spagna, Docente della Escuela diocesana de tiempo libre, Delegato diocesano per i Mezzi di Comunicazione, Direttore della rivista diocesana Sembrar, Direttore dei programmi diocesani di Radio COPE, Direttore degli Istituti di Teologia per Laici e di Teologia a distanza e Direttore per le relazioni con la stampa della Facoltà di Teologia (1988-1993), Segretario delle riunioni dei Vescovi delle diocesi di Castilla y León (1994-2003), Pro-Vicario Generale e Vicario di Pastorale di Burgos (1993-2004).

Nominato Vescovo titolare di Arcavica ed Ausiliare di Oviedo il 22 marzo 2005, è stato consacrato il 14 maggio successivo.
