Two Angelicum Alumni nominated Cardinals by the Holy Father
















Pope Benedict XVI named 22 new cardinals on Jan. 6, 2012, including two prominent Angelicum alumni: Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of New York [Faculty of Theology] (left) and Archbishop Edwin F. O'Brien, Pro Grand Master of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem [Faculty of Theology] (right) – were included among the nominees. The two men are 61 and 72 years old, respectively. O'Brien has been named the 2012 Angelicum Alumni Achievement Award recipient. The Pope also announced a consistory for Feb. 18, 2012, at which the new cardinals will be formally elevated to their new rank.
