Rome from October, 3 to 7, 2012

The Synod on the New Evangelization will be held in Rome from 7 to 28 October 2012.
A workshop on certain themes of the Synod will be held in Rome from Wednesday, October 3rd, 14.00 to Saturday, October 6th, 13.00. Participants are invited to attend the opening Mass of the Synod with the Pope on Sunday, October 7th morning at St Peter Basilica.

Angelum pacis Míchael ad istam,
Christe, demítti rogitámus aulam,
cuncta quo crebro veniénte crescant
  próspera nobis.

Angelus fortis Gábriel, ut hostem
pellat antíquum, vólitet supérne,
sæpius templum cúpiens favéndo
  vísere nostrum.

Angelum nobis médicum salútis
mitte de cælis Ráphael, ut omnes
sanet ægrótos paritérque nostros
  dírigat actus.

Christe, sanctórum decus angelórum,
adsit illórum chorus usque nobis,
ut simul tandem Tríadi per ævum
  cármina demus. Amen.

Angelicum Alumnus transferred as new Bishop of Orange, CA (USA)

On Friday, September 21, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI announced the transfer of Angelicum alumnus Bishop Kevin William Vann (who is serving as the Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Worth, in Fort Worth, Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex) to serve instead as the Bishop of the Diocese of Orange, in Orange, California (USA) because of the retirement of Bishop Emeritus Tod David Brown, 76 (under Canon 401.1 of the Latin-rite Code of Canon Law, which states that Bishops must offer a letter of resignation to the Pope for possible acceptance when they turn 75). There will be an installation at a later date at Vespers in Christ Cathedral.

Bishop Vann was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Joseph McNicholas on May 30, 1981. He then furthered his studies in canon law at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, residing at the Pontifical North American College. It was at the Angelicum that in May 1985 he earned his J.C.D. (Doctor of Canon Law).

Exsúltet cælum láudibus,
resúltet terra gáudiis:
Apostolórum glóriam
sacra canunt sollémnia.

Vos, sæcli iusti iúdices
et vera mundi lúmina,
votis precámur córdium,
audíte preces súpplicum.

Qui cælum verbo cláuditis
serásque eius sólvitis,
nos a peccátis ómnibus
sólvite iussu, quæsumus.

Quorum præcépto súbditur
salus et languor ómnium,
sanáte ægros móribus,
nos reddéntes virtútibus,

Ut, cum iudex advénerit
Christus in fine sæculi,
nos sempitérni gáudii
fáciat esse cómpotes.

Deo sint laudes glóriæ,
qui dat nos evangélicis
per vos doctrínis ínstrui
et prósequi cæléstia. Amen.

The Faculty of Theology at PUST contributes, within its own competence, to the effort to put into focus the meaning, method, objectives and main content of the New Evangelization.  For that purpose, during the 2012-2013 academic year some courses featured in the First and Second Cycle will be open to those interested in preparing themselves to be promoters of the New Evangelization.

Vexílla regis pródeunt,
fulget crucis mystérium,
quo carne carnis cónditor
suspénsus est patíbulo;

Quo, vulnerátus ínsuper
mucróne diro lánceæ,
ut nos laváret crímine,
manávit unda et sánguine.

Arbor decóra et fúlgida,
ornáta regis púrpura,
elécta digno stípite
tam sancta membra tángere!

Beáta, cuius brácchiis
sæcli pepéndit prétium;
statéra facta est córporis
prædam tulítque tártari.

Salve, ara, salve, víctima,
de passiónis glória,
qua Vita mortem pértulit
et morte vitam réddidit!

O crux, ave, spes única!
in hac triúmphi glória
piis adáuge grátiam
reísque dele crímina.

Te, fons salútis, Trínitas,
colláudet omnis spíritus;
quos per crucis mystérium
salvas, fove per sæcula. Amen.

Welcome Back! Bentornati!
