Monastic Interreligious Dialogue has sponsored three international dialogues between Iranian Shi‘a Muslims and Roman Catholic monks and nuns. The first, on the Word of God, was held at the Pontificio Ateneo S. Anselmo in September, 2011. The second, on friendship, took place at the International Institute for Islamic Studies in Qum in October, 2012. The most recent, on community, was held at the Monastero di Bose (San Masseo) in Assisi, 17-21 October 2014.

The papers presented at the first two gatherings have been published by Liturgical Press, Collegeville, Minnesota, in its Monastic Interreligious Dialogue series under the titles: Monks and Muslims: Monastic and Shi‘a Spirituality in Dialogue (2012), and Monks and Muslims II: Creating Communities of Friendship (2014).
Reports on these gatherings can also be found in Dilatato Corde, the multi-lingual, on-line journal of Monastic Interreligious Dialogue, now in its fourth year of publication, at www.dimmid.org. The principal contents of Dilatato Corde are also published each year in book form by Lantern Books, Brooklyn, New York. Volume III appeared earlier this year.
