Angelicum alumnus named Auxiliary Bishop of Detroit (USA)

Pope Francis has named Angelicum alumnus Rev. Gerard W. Battersby in metro Detroit to be auxiliary bishop, replacing a retiring bishop and an outgoing one.
Fr. Battersby received his License in the New Evangelization from Sacred Heart Major Seminary, and is, presently pursuing a terminal degree at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Urbe (Rome) in Sacred Theology, in the area of Spirituality.   
Fr. Battersby was born in 1960 and raised in Detroit.  Prior to his arrival at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, he was engaged in parochial ministry in the Archdiocese of Detroit for more than a decade serving as parochial vicar, pastor and administrator.  Fr. Battersby has served as Vicar for the Northwest Detroit Vicariate; a member of the Presbyteral Council and the Assignment Board, he currently is the pastor at St. Mary of Redford in Detroit.
