Appointment of Angelicum alumnus as the Bishop of Kabankalan (Philippines)

Pope Francis has appointed as the Bishop of Kabankalan (Philippines) the Rev. Mons. Louie Patalinghug Galbines, of the clergy of the diocese of Bacolod, until now Vicar General.

The Rev. Mons. Louie Patalinghug Galbines was born in Aliwanag, Sagay, Negros Occidental, in the diocese of Bacolod, on November 18, 1966. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, continuing successively in Rome, at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, where he obtained a Licentiate and Doctorate in S. Theology (1997-2001).

He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Bacolod on April 29, 1994.

Later he was: Vice-Dean and Spiritual Director at Sacred Heart Seminary, Bacolod City (1994); Chancellor and Secretary of the diocesan Curia of Bacolod (1994-1996).

After returning to his homeland, after his studies in Rome, he served as: Treasurer and Collaborator of the Episcopal Conference of the Philippines (2001-2006); Vice-President and then President of the Diocesan Commission for the Clergy, as well as Parochial Vicar in St. Sebastian parish of Bacolod City (2007-2012). In 2012 he became Rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary of Bacolod City and, in 2013, Vicar General of that diocese.
